Meet our Staff!
Cindy, Certified Veterinary Technician
I have been a Certified Veterinary Technician for 23 years, graduating from the veterinary technician program at Madison in 1993. After working in traditional practices for almost 17 years and beginning an interest in natural medicine for animals and people, I started learning about essential oils and whole food nutrition. I graduated from the Center of Aromatherapy Research and Education (CARE) in 2007 and have been finding great joy in teaching classes to others to empower their health since that time.
I live with 2 wonderful cats, Mel, who is a senior kitty, and Regina who is almost 1 year! My favorite things to do are bike riding, hiking, playing piano and gardening.
Jen, Veterinary Technician
I've had a love of animals of all shapes and sizes for as long as I can remember. From a young age, my passion was to be able to work with animals. I followed that passion into college, originally wanting to pursue veterinary medicine and become a Veterinarian. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, my interests changed a bit, and I was trained as a veterinary technician. I've been a vet tech for ten years and love the hands on experience of getting to interact with and help animals on a daily basis.
Several years ago, I was introduced to the concept of fear free techniques in vet clinics. In addition, a holistic lifestyle has been an ideal of mine for years. I joined the Integrative Veterinary Service team in June of 2016 and am honored to be a member of a practice that shares the same ideals for animal care as myself. I am eager to expand on my knowledge of holistic medicine and to be able to share that with the animals and their owners.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband Tony, our dog Cassiopeia, and our two cats Artemis and Spartacus. I also have a bearded dragon named Bubba and a fire belly toad named Gilbert. A few of my other interests include: spending time outdoors, fishing, traveling, and attending musicals.
Krista, Certified Veterinary Technician, Hospital Manager
I joined the wonderful team at IVS in 2017 with a background in shelter medicine and traditional veterinary care that began in 2012. I am thrilled to use holistic modalities and quality nutrition integrated with Western medicine and see our patients thrive! My favorite tool to use in the clinic and at home are essential oils and I often refer to them as my "love language." I graduated from The Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education (C.A.R.E.) in February 2017 and that greatly strengthened my knowledge and desire to use essential oils to their full potential and share them with anyone who'll listen!
My husband, daughter and I enjoy hiking and being outdoors. We share our home with three cats and two dogs. In my spare time I love knitting and my guilty pleasure is binge-watching The Office!
I love working with the amazing clients and patients we see here at IVS! Building relationships with people is one of my passions and when it is formed around our mutual love of our pets it is so rewarding and meaningful!
Catherine, Customer Relations Associate/Receptionist
I am a proud momma to my Moon, my 2 year old 100lb Great Pyrenees Husky mix and my cat, my sweet girl Petals. We just moved into a house and are excited to break it in with lots of love and fur! Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, interior decorating, thrifting, and gardening.
My love for animals started when I was little. We always had a house filled with animals including 4 dogs, a cat, guinea pigs, a rabbit, parakeets, fish and even roller pigeons! I've wanted to work with animals for as long as I can remember and am glad I have that oppurtunity through Integrative Veterinary Service.
Seeing holistic options helping owners and their animals every day, I am excited to extend my knowldge in both eastern and western medicine. I am interested in going to school to become a Vet Technician after I complete my Veterinary Assistant course. I am thankful to be apart of the team, and can't wait to meet you and your furry friends!
I'm thrilled to be a part of Integrative Veterinary Service. My interest in living a healthy life combined with a love for animals makes working at Integrative Veterinary Service a natural fit for me. I joined the clinic in November of 2016 and shortly thereafter became Fear Free certified. While studying business at UW Madison, I took a detour and spent a year in the veterinary technician program at MATC but soon realized that my love of mathematics was calling and returned to UW Madison and received a degree in Actuarial Science. My husband and I have three children and two dogs who keep me busy when I'm not at work.
Growing up, my mom had us spend time at our local animal shelter donating and adopting. My mom would routinely adopt the animal that had been at the shelter the longest. Her passion for helping animals in need continued with me.
I am a proud mother to my handsome cat Opie and my tripod American Staffordshire Terrier, Prim. I fostered Prim through her rehabilitation following her amputation surgery. Seeing her walk a week after her operation is a tribute to her resiliency. She continues to amaze me by running, really running, jumping, and swimming as if she were any other dog! She is a true bully ambassador, and we enjoy spending our time at local events raising a positive awareness for all Pitbulls.
Having worked as an Adoption Counselor and Animal Care Technician, I loved doing the day-to-day care. I learned so much about animal behavior, training, and veterinary care! Having the opportunity to share my knowledge with prospective adopters made me feel like I had a part in giving hundreds of animals a new life. I was fortunate to work in a violence prevention program for at-risk children in Milwaukee by teaching teens empathy and compassion through their work with animals in the shelter. Seeing children gain confidence in themselves and create an emotional bond with the dogs they trained made me appreciate the impact an animal can have on one’s life.
I believe in treating every animal I meet as if it were my own. Being surrounded by coworkers and owners who show unconditional love for their animals, makes me excited to continue learning and growing with Integrative Veterinary Service.
Lisa, Groomer/Front Office Manager
I have always felt a special connection with animals and love being around them. At the age of 14, I started volunteering at the local humane society and from that moment, my passion for animals grew. After high school, I attended the Wisconsin School of Professional Pet Grooming and eventually started my own grooming business while also spending my time as a dog training assistant.
A few years later, I ended up selling my grooming company to work at my family's business. During this time, I earned my associates degree and continued to focus on my own dogs. I began helping local rescue groups (being an advocate for pitbulls) and earned my certification in canine massage. This time away from running my own business allowed me to write and publish my first book, My Name is Honey and I'm a Pit Bull, about my first rescue pup, Honey.
Most recently, our family business has been sold, which has allowed me to start up a dog walking business and begin grooming again. I am so happy to be where my heart has always been; working with animals and their people.
I am so happy to be a part of the Integrative Veterinary Service team, and enjoy working with great people who are as passionate about animals as I am.
I live with my husband, our two rescue pittie mixes Bella and Humphrey, our cat Stuart, Walter the guinea pig, Wanda our turtle ,and our love bird named Monster.
I look forward to meeting you and your pup!
Nina, Certified Veterinary Technician
My career began in the summer of 2006 after starting out at a doggy daycare and then having the opportunity to assist in canine rehabilitation and veterinary medicine. I joined the IVS team in June 2017 after spending 3 years in Chicago working and training in holistic medicine under the guidance of Dr. Barbara Royal. It is there that I learned of the importance of nutrition and supporting the body’s natural ability to help heal itself.
My professional interests include nutrition and food as medicine, herbalism, and preventative medicine. Client education is a huge part of what I do because I want you to understand how to best care for your pet at home!
My personal interests include hiking, slack-lining, reading, live music, tap dancing, and macramé jewelry. Since moving back to Wisconsin I live with my best friend and her family (2 legged and 4 legged alike), my Lhasa/Bichon Mitzy, a feisty cat Jaxson, sweet Penny Lane, and timid grandma cat Monkey.
Vicky, Certified Veterinary Technician and Certified Veterinary Massage and Rehabilitation Therapist
After moving to the United States from England, my journey into the veterinary field began. I have always held love in my heart for all creatures great and small, so I am grateful for the canine intervention that occurred in the late 90’s when our family Brittany Spaniel put me on the path to becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. Over the past two decades, my passion for animal safety, comfort, and love has only grown. Knowing that there had to be alternative sources of care out there, I decided to branch out beyond conventional medicine. Being a recipient of massage and acupuncture myself, I began to wonder if these beneficial options were available for animals as well. Soon enough, I was right where I needed to be.
During 2017, I became a level 1 medicinal aromatherapist with Wisdom of the Earth. This modality of natural healing piqued my interest further so in 2018, I completed a post-graduate program with The Healing Oasis, earning a certification in Veterinary Rehabilitation and Massage Therapy. Above and beyond that, I have continued to study canine massage through Canis Bodyworks with future plans for additional certification in massage therapy.
During the summer of 2018, I joined the team here at IVS. I am a strong believer in building a solid foundation for your pet’s optimal health, starting with their diet. I am also extremely fond of our senior pets. In their golden years, animals often need additional comfort or palliative care that can improve their quality of life. I am proud to be part of a team where we can provide compassionate care and make a difference.
Currently, I have a sweet little Chihuahua mix named Patchouli and one very sassy cat called Jolene. Together, they are the dynamic duo and constantly keep me on my toes! In my spare time, I do a fair amount of creative writing and I am trying to learn how to knit. Emphasis on trying. Looking forward to seeing you and your companion at IVS!
I graduated from Wisconsin School of Professional Pet Grooming, have been professionally grooming almost 18 years and have enjoyed my relationships with my clients along the way. I strive to make all my clients happy, both the furry and the human ones alike. I work hard to support your busy life with practical grooming choices to accommodate your needs. I am a mom of 3 kids and a Boxer, that keep our lives at home constantly on the move. I know, I know, a groomer with a Boxer?! Yes, after any long day I appreciate simply coming home to our boy Orzo, and chilling. No mandatory brushing required; he fits our lifestyle perfectly.
