Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a technique that is part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that has been used for over thousands of years to treat pain and disease. It has been endorsed as a medical treatment option in humans by the National Institute of Health since 1995.

Acupuncture is used to re-establish energy flow and to restore the body to a balanced state points. Disruption or blockage of this energy flow can cause pain or disease. By placing sterile acupuncture needles on specific points over the body located along pathways called meridians. According to TCM, meridians are the channels by which energy flows throughout the body.

 

Acupuncture can be useful in treatment of:

  • Arthritis

  • Allergies

  • Trauma

  • Muscle soreness

  • Inappetance/anorexia

  • Intervertebral disc disease

  • Nerve injury

  • Lick granulomas (hot spots)

  • Diarrhea

  • Incontinence
